Showcasing local interior design talents in Malaysia! Bigger and better than ever, the second JIDA Design Awards (JDA) 2019 Gala Night is coming! With the help of international judges, the chosen winners are doubtlessly the cream of the crop.

A MOU signing ceremony has been held on 18^th April 2019 (Thursday) between Johor Interior Designers’ Association (JIDA) and the official media partners to promote JIDA Design Awards (JDA) 2019 to the public.

There are 6 media partners, including both online and offline media, to promote JDA this round. They are Renotalk Sdn. Bhd. , CreativeHome from IN Publishers Sdn. Bhd., VOUCH Alliance, MAGistrate of Interesthink Sdn. Bhd., ACG Media Sdn. Bhd. and Property Insight from Armani Media Sdn. Bhd.

Ms. Law Lee Kiau: “The second JDA will have even higher standards, so it is definitely worth looking forward to.”

According to Ms. Law Lee Kiau, JDA 2019 Advisor, who is also the President of JIDA, this is the second JDA following the success of the first in 2017. Due to overwhelming response, this time, entry is open to all Malaysians until 19^th April 2019. The standard for the first JDA was very high, so it is expected to be even more competitive this time.

Ms. Lim So-En: “The objective of JDA is to recognize outstanding local Malaysian interior designers and to raise industry standards through healthy competition.”

According to Ms. Lim So-En, Organizing Chairlady of JDA 2019 and Vice President of JIDA, the objective of JDA is to recognize outstanding local Malaysian interior designers and to raise industry standards through healthy competition. It is JIDA’s hope that, through this event, they can connect and collaborate with all media partners, strategic partners and fellow designers out there.

Fair and Confidential Judging Process Conducted by International Judges

Dr. Eric Leong: “The judging process is highly confidential.”

According to Chief Judge of JDA 2019, Dr. Eric Leong, who is also the Head of Interior Architecture & Design School, The One Academy Sunway (TOAS) & The One Academy Penang (TOAP), the judging process is 100% blind, and the identities of participants will be unknown to the judges at the time of evaluation. This will ensure that the competition will be as fair and confidential as possible. In total, there will be 3 rounds of judging. Final results will only be announced during Gala Night. The trophies are without names, which will be carved out only after announcement of results. The other international judges include Dato’ Tan Su Cheng, Horace Pan, Peter Tay, AR. Yap Yew Peng, and Chris Bosse from Australia who designed the Water Cube Beijing National Aquatics Centre for the 2008 Olympics in China.

JDA 2019 Gala Awards Night to Showcase Talent

JIDA will be hosting the JIDA Design Awards (JDA) 2019 Gala Awards Night on 17^th May 2019 (Friday), 6.30pm at Austin International Convention Centre (AICC), Taman Mount Austin, Johor Bahru, with the theme “Gatsby”. Prior to the night event, other activity highlights will be held throughout the day. Starting from 10am, there will be exhibition of awards finalists. At 11am, there is a forum with international judges who will share about their work.

Gala Night tickets are priced at RM230 per entry and RM2000 per table.
